定语从句

在句中充当定语、修饰名词或代词的从句，被修饰的词叫先行词，由关系词引出。

一、核心规则

1. 定语从句由关系代词（who, whom, whose, which, that, as）或关系副词（when, where, why）引导，关系词必须在从句中充当成分。
2. 分限制性与非限制性两类：限制性从句不隔逗号，是识别先行词的必要信息；非限制性从句用逗号隔开，只作补充说明。
3. 非限制性定语从句不用 that，也不用 why，关系词一律不省略。
4. 关系代词作宾语或表语时可省略；关系副词 when/where/why 在 day, place, the reason 等少数词后也可省略或换用 that。
5. 关系代词的选择取决于先行词指人还是指物、在从句中作什么成分，而不是取决于汉语语序。
6. 非限制性定语从句中 which/as 可指代整个主句，as 有“正如”义且位置灵活（见 that vs which）。
7. 定语从句与并列句的界线：逗号后若有 and/but 等连词，则该部分是独立分句，须用人称代词而非关系代词。

二、结构与公式

• 先行词 + 关系代词 + 从句（关系代词作主语/宾语/定语）
• 先行词 + 关系副词 + 从句（关系副词作状语）
• 先行词 + 介词 + which/whom + 从句（正式文体，介词可提到关系词前）
• 非限制性：先行词, + 关系词 + 从句
• 省略式：关系代词作宾语时 先行词 + (that/which/whom) + 主语 + 谓语

三、典型例句

1. People who take physical exercise live longer.（进行体育锻炼的人活得长些。）
2. His daughter, who is in Boston now, is coming home next week.（他女儿现在在波士顿，下星期回来。）
3. He is the man whose car was stolen.（他就是汽车被窃的那个人。）
4. Sunday is the day when very few people go to work.（星期日是没什么人上班的日子。）
5. He changed his mind, which made me very angry.（他改变了主意，这使我很生气。）
6. Is there anything (which) you wanted?（想要什么东西吗?）— 关系代词作宾语可省略
7. That was the year (that) I first went abroad.（就是那一年我第一次出国了。）

四、易错点

1. ✗ He has two children, and both of whom are abroad. → ✓ …and both of them are abroad. 原因：有并列连词 and 时是并列句，须用人称代词。
2. ✗ This is the way how he spoke. → ✓ This is how he spoke. / This is the way (that / in which) he spoke. 原因：how 不能作关系副词。
3. ✗ I have a sister, that is a doctor. → ✓ I have a sister, who is a doctor. 原因：非限制性定语从句不用 that。
4. ✗ Mr. Smith, that is our boss, will leave for Japan. → ✓ Mr. Smith, who is our boss, will leave for Japan. 原因：先行词为专有名词时用非限制性从句，且不用 that。

五、高考考点

1. 语法填空：关系代词与关系副词的选择，判据是“从句缺主语/宾语还是缺状语”。
2. 单选：介词 + which/whom、as 与 which 的区别、限制性与非限制性的差别。
3. 短文改错：多余的关系词、该用关系词处用人称代词。
4. 写作升级：用非限制性定语从句合并短句，是提升句式丰富度的核心手段（见 语法在写作中的升级用法）。
